Frequently asked questions

Here you will find frequently asked questions and answers.

What is EV Guard battery protection?

The patented battery guard protects the battery pack, the fluid circulation and electrical connectors under the car.

How does battery protection affect the yearly car inspection?

According to current regulations, it must be possible to inspect the vehicle during an inspection without removing any parts, including the driving batteries located under the vehicle.

In Finland, we have been actively in contact with Traficom regarding inspection practices, and have sought to change the regulations so that when a battery protector is installed at an authorized service workshop, the installer checks the condition of the battery before installing the protector and provides a document with the vehicle that certifies that the battery is in perfect condition.

Currently, the battery cover must be removed during the inspection, but this can be arranged with the installer or a nearby repair shop.

During the inspection appointment, you can arrange your car's maintenance and inspection with your own service shop.

Does battery protection affect the car warranty?

In vehicles where the battery is still under warranty, a battery protector can be installed, because in our opinion, the battery protector does not have a detrimental effect on the battery, on the contrary, the heat insulating effect of the battery protector in cold weather may even extend the battery's range. The need for battery preheating is also reduced when connecting to a charger, and the energy requirement for the car's interior heating is reduced. The battery protector can also be repaired much more cheaply than replacing the battery case.

If the battery develops any other defect that requires a complaint during the warranty period, EV Guard Oy will not take a position on the matter.

The battery cover does not turn the vehicle into an all-terrain vehicle, but the cover is made to prevent small scratches and dents that can occur, for example, on a frosty cottage road, from chunks of ice dropped from a truck driving in front, or from small touches on the pavement.

The battery protector is designed to protect the battery during normal use. However, we are not responsible for damage to the battery and electrical systems caused by external factors.

How is the battery guard installed?

The battery cover is almost always attached with the same bolts that hold the battery in place, and some of the battery mounting bolts are removed and the cover is installed under the same bolts.

No modifications are made to the vehicle or battery, except for the plastic covers associated with the battery, which in some cases need to be slightly modified for a good fit and tightness, but are still suitable for use in their places, even if the cover is sometimes permanently removed.

We recommend that the underbody of the car is checked every two years during maintenance or inspection to check for possible electrical components. (It is advisable to schedule maintenance and inspection on the same day.)

Does battery protection affect car insurance?

We have been in contact with insurance company representatives and discussed the impact of battery protection on the reduction in batteries to be replaced, and therefore new, more affordable insurance products are coming, please ask your insurance company.

Where can I buy a battery guard?

We primarily deliver battery guards to service shops directly, inquire about the products from your own service shop or car dealer. Battery guards make your driving even more affordable and safer.
